MORE ABOUT ME

Your journey towards self-discovery and healing will be profoundly shaped by meeting the right therapist to walk alongside you.
Do you know what you are looking for in a therapist?
With so many therapists to choose from, finding someone you can truly trust with your deepest thoughts and feelings can feel overwhelming and disheartening. I remember it took meeting 3 or 4 therapists before I found my first ever, right fit, whom I ended up seeing for several years.
The truth is, you might get a good feeling during an initial consultation, but it may take a few sessions before you feel confident about whether a therapist is the right fit for you.
I take great pride in my work and am dedicated to offering not only therapeutic expertise but also a genuine human connection. So, here are a few more personal thoughts in my journey as a fellow human.

My personal healing journey has been long, with lived experience involving family, relationship, and cultural traumas. As a woman of Korean descent, being born and raised in Japan was a unique experience. I attended International School throughout my childhood, until my move to the United States as a late teen. Most are surprised and unable to tell that I’m a “first-generation” immigrant in the United States, who struggled to fully belong and navigated through different forms of diversity and misunderstandings while trying to “blend in” to the culture that came with the different places I’ve lived. Besides Japan, I have also lived in Hawaii, California, and Nevada.
There's that one question people often ask: "If you could go back in time, would you change anything?" It has taken years of deep self-reflection and a commitment to prioritizing my mental health to be able to say that I wouldn't change a thing.
Through firsthand experience, I’ve come to understand that therapy isn't just effective—it’s transformative. It guided me to rediscover myself and see the world from a clearer lens.
While we cannot undo what happened in our past, the beauty of adulthood is the second chance to forge a new path— you now hold the power to make different choices and create a life that you desire. You can now set a new foundation for your future self and the generations to follow.
That's why I chose to name my practice Better Path Therapy — because when you're at a crossroad in life, unsure of the “right” decision, taking one small step towards something better, and trusting the process is all it takes to eventually bring about profound change. As a high-achiever, you don’t need to be caught in the cycle of being your “best” because more than likely, your “better” is already beyond good enough.
My Journey:
My clinical BACKGROUND
The early part of my clinical journey:
My journey as a therapist has been quite diverse, starting with my practicum in a school setting where I worked with children aged 12 to 18. I met with students on a weekly basis, facilitating family sessions whenever possible. It proved to be a very valuable experience as I delved into the intricacies of the school system, learning even the technical aspects of an Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), while coordinating care with teachers and parents to help address various mental health challenges.
Transitioning to outpatient agency work, I broadened my scope, working with clients of all ages, races, and backgrounds, including the AAPI community. Here, I gained experience working with individuals from diverse cultures and ethnicities, while also understanding the nuances of assimilation levels as a consideration when working with immigrants.
My clinical EXPERIENCES IN NEVADA
The latter part of my clinical journey:
My move to Nevada opened doors to a whole new clientele, primarily focusing on work with adults, including substance use, and co-occurring mental health challenges. Collaborating with state programs, federal departments, and veterans, I delved deep into trauma's pervasive impact, recognizing its root in many mental health struggles.
During this phase, I facilitated numerous groups, worked with individuals and couples while venturing into leadership roles within the organization, including supervising therapists working towards their licensure. In June of 2023, I established my private practice, specializing in trauma and anxiety among adults.
From children to couples, moderate to high-acuity cases, outpatient to intensive outpatient care, and agency work to solo practice, I've cultivated a diverse skill set over the past 15 plus years in hopes of becoming a knowledgeable and competent therapist for you.
Modalities
I have received training in various therapeutic modalities over the years and currently focus on a trauma-informed approach, utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This method has been so far very well-received by many of my clients.
I exclusively use EMDR remotely through teletherapy. It's important to note that not all EMDR therapists provide this service remotely. Therefore, when searching for an online or telehealth therapist, it’s advisable to inquire about their comfort level and experience with remote EMDR therapy.
